Women’s Basketball at Bay College

Final

The Jayhawk Women’s Basketball team dropped a conference decision at Bay College in Escanaba by a score of 76-71.

MCC battled right from the tip against the conference leader Norse and they finished the 1st quarter in a 15-15 tie. MCC picked up the pace on offense in the 2nd quarter as they took a 39-30 half time lead. Late in the 3rd quarter the Jayhawks built a 16 point advantage but Bay picked up the pressure and they stormed back to get within 5 points to start the 4th quarter. MCC struggled from the free throw line and Bay outscored MCC by 10 overall to steal the hard fought victory and remain undefeated in conference play. “First, I want to say how proud I am of my team,” said Coach Jason Cooper. “They battled and played very hard; we didn’t get the outcome we wanted today but we are still improving each game.” Ty’veonna Davis (Muskegon) recorded another double double with 30 points and 13 rebounds. She added 5 steals to her stat line. Arrionna Williams (Reeths-Puffer) finished with 10 points, Ali Phillips (Mona Shores) had 9 points and 6 rebounds and Remi Sponseller (Farwell) grabbed 10 rebounds.

MCC is 7-4 in conference play and 13-11 overall. They travel to take on Mid Michigan College on Wednesday, 2/21 with tip off at 5:30 pm.
