The Jayhawk Women’s Basketball Team defeated Kalamazoo Valley Community College on the road, 91-50.
MCC continued to play with confidence and consistency, jumping out to a 20-8 lead after the first quarter, then scoring 32 points for a 52-22 half time lead. KVCC was held to 7 points in the third quarter and MCC was able to focus on team defense, communication and offensive execution as they controlled the game to the end.
“We played a well balanced game on both sides of the ball,” said Coach Cooper. “I’m happy that the girls came together with another team win.”
Once again the Jayhawks finished with 6 players in double figures, led by Mariah Pringle (Brethren) with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Trina Lewis (Reeths-Puffer) and Karleigh Jeffries (Whitehall) each scored 14; Lewis grabbed 6 boards and Jeffries had 8 boards. Julia Tierman (Mona Shores) scored 11 with 7 assists and 4 rebounds and Calla Miller (Fremont) also had 11 points with 6 rebounds. Alley Seiber (Reeths-Puffer) added 10 points and 4 rebounds.
MCC is now 14-3 in conference play and 20-4 overall. They will wrap up the regular season with a home game vs. Lake Michigan College on Wednesday, 2/23 at 5:30 pm.
