The Jayhawk Women’s Basketball team traveled to Petosky to face the North Central Michigan College Timberwolves and came home with a 77-33 victory.

MCC continued to play without a key starter, but they stuck to the game plan and focused on defense to keep the Timberwolves under 40 points total. MCC outscored NCMC in each quarter and held them to single digit scoring. The Jayhawks took a commanding 41-16 half time lead, and they were never tested in the second half. “I’m very excited where our team is headed,” said Head Coach Jason Cooper. “This was a good win on the road.” The Jayhawks were paced once again by Fremont Sophomore Calla Miller who finished with 23 points, 9 rebounds and 4 steals. Ally Sieber (Reeths-Puffer) had a solid game with 17 points and 2 blocks, followed by Karleigh Jeffries (Whitehall) and Kayla Fisk (Newaygo) with 10 points each. Every Jayhawk scored in the game.

MCC is 4-1 in conference play and 13-5 overall. The win moves MCC into second place in the conference with a trip to play the first-place team from Mid Michigan College on Wednesday, 2/1 at 5:30 pm.
