The Muskegon Community College women’s basketball team traveled to Schoolcraft College to play the Lady Ocelots and pulled out a 72-67 victory.
The Jayhawks led the entire first half, but in the second half, a combination of early season mistakes and increased intensity from the home team resulted in the Ocelots taking their first lead of the game about 5 minutes into the 3rd quarter. The score was 56-55 in favor of Schoolcraft at the end of three quarters of play. In the 4th quarter the Jayhawks regained the lead and finished with the victory. Leading scorers for MCC were Tanae Hamer (Hudsonville HS) with 23, Yasmine Colon (Hart HS) with 14 points, Iyana Brown (Fruitport HS) with 13 points and Gracie Reinhold (Oakridge HS) with 12 points.
“The team fought had to pull out a win tonight,” said Head Coach Jason Cooper. “We still have some work to do, but it’s always easier to work on those things after a win.”
MCC is 2-0 on the season and they return to action with a contest at Cornerstone University on Monday, 11/18 at 7:30 pm.
