Muskegon Community College made the long trip to Alpena Community College and came home with a 66-52 victory.
MCC started the game slowly and held a slim 26-22 lead at halftime. The Jayhawks came out with more intensity in the second half but Alpena matched it and at the end of 3 quarters the score was tied at 38.In the 4th quarter MCC was able to step up the pace, gain some momentum and secure the win. Delaney Bolles (Reeths-Puffer HS) led the team with 22 points, point guard Elysia Mattos (Reeths-Puffer HS) finished with 15 points, and guard Artrese Williams (Reeths-Puffer HS) had 12 points.
“I’m very proud of the team effort we had tonight,” said Head Coach Jason Cooper. “We struggled in the first half with our offense but we kept the game close defensively. With the all around team effort in the fourth quarter we pulled away.”
MCC is now 6-1 in the non-conference portion of their schedule. They return to action on Tuesday, 12/11 with a trip to Aquinas College. Tip off is 5:00 pm.
