The Muskegon Community College Jayhawks defeated the Kellogg Community College Bruins by a final score of 76-47.
The Jayhawks were coming off of a tough road loss to GRCC but from the start they proved they were ready to refocus. MCC jumped out to a 18-9 lead after the first quarter and built on that for a 40-23 half time lead. The third quarter has been challenging for the team this year, but not tonight. They continued to move the ball well on offense and they played good defense, allowing KCC little opportunity to make a comeback. After three it was 58-34 and they rolled to the victory from there.
Multiple players contributed to the win. Delaney Bolles (Reeths-Puffer HS) led the stat board with 19 points and 17 rebounds. Artrese Williams (Reeths-Puffer HS) finished with 17 points and Gracie Reinhold (Oakridge HS) was also in double digits with 12 points. Point guard, Elysia Mattos (Reeths-Puffer HS) had 8 assists.
“Great team win tonight, I’m very excited about how we responded after a loss,” said Head Coach Jason Cooper.
MCC is now 11-2 and remains tied with Lake Michigan College at the top of the leader board in the Western Conference. They are 19-3 overall. Next up is a road trip to Lansing Community College for a 1:00 pm contest on Saturday, 2/16.
