Muskegon Community College improved to 4-1 in the Western Conference with a 68-45 victory over Lansing Community College in Bartels-Rode Gymnasium.
The Jayhawks held a slim 14-12 lead after the first quarter and they were able to extend the lead in the second quarter to take a 9 point lead into the locker room at the half. In the second half the Jayhawks came out focused and ready to make a statement. They never trailed and finished with a convincing win. Forward Delaney Bolles (Reeths-Puffer HS) led the team with 23 points and 14 rebounds. Artrese Williams (Reeths-Puffer HS) also contributed 16 points and Elysia Mattos (Reeths-Puffer HS) put up 14 points. Freshman, Mariah Pringle (Brethren HS) also stepped up tonight and added 11 points to the win.
“It was a great win for us, I’m very happy with the team’s effort,” said Head Coach Jason Cooper. “The defensive intensity was much better tonight.”
The Jayhawks are tied with 3 other teams in second place in the conference and they are 12-2 overall. They will travel to Kalamazoo Valley Community College for a 1:00 pm matchup on Saturday, 1/19.
