Tonight the Jayhawk Women’s basketball team defeated the Glen Oaks Community College Vikings 79-41.
MCC started the game by executing on offense, finding their post players and pushing the ball on the fast break for a 21-10 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter the Vikings stayed in the game with an increased intensity and offensive rebounds, but MCC still held a 34-21 lead at the half. The Jayhawks held Glen Oaks to 10 points in each of the last two quarters to pull away for the final score.
Kacy Jeffries (Whitehall HS) and Tanae Hamer (Hudsonville HS) each had 14 points and 6 rebounds. Nia Miskel (Muskegon HS) had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds and Julia Tierman (Mona Shores HS) also had 13 points and 10 assists. Mariah Pringle (Brethren HS) had another double-double with 10 points and 17 rebounds.
“We had a great team win tonight, we played well on both sides of the ball,” said Head Coach jason Cooper. “I’m very proud of them.”
The Jayhawks are now 8-2 overall and 6-0 in conference play. They return to the court with a road game at Ancilla College on Tuesday, 3/23 at 5:30 pm.
