The Muskegon Community College Women’s basketball team opened the 2019-2020 season with a victory over Grace Christian University in their home opener by a score of 65-55.
Grace held the advantage after the first quarter, 14-10 and held on to a slim 30-28 lead at halftime, but the Jayhawks came out in the third quarter with a renewed effort on defense and rebounding and they were able to hold Grace to only 7 points in the quarter. MCC led after 3, 48-37 and held on for the win.
“I’m proud of how the girls battled in the first game of the season, said Head Coach Jason Cooper. “There are some things we know we need to work on, but we look forward to continuous improvement as the season goes on.”
MCC returns to action on Saturday, 11/16 when they hit the road for a contest at Schoolcraft College. Tip off is 1:00 pm.
