Muskegon Community College wrapped up their season with a tough overtime loss to Kalamazoo Valley Community College, 84-82.
KVCC came into the regional tournament as the 7 seed while MCC was the 2 seed. The game was fast paced from the start. MCC held the advantage after each of the first 3 quarters, 21-18 after one, 42-38 at the half and 65-54 after the third. The fourth quarter would prove to be the difference maker as MCC only scored 5 points while KVCC put up 16 to tie the game. In overtime the teams traded baskets but MCC came up just short at the buzzer.
Sophomore Elysia Mattos (Reeths-Puffer HS) led the team with 21 points and 11 assists. Artrese Williams (Reeths-Puffer HS) scored 16 points and grabbed 5 boards. Freshmen Shaina Figures (Ottawa Hills HS) and Mariah Pringle (Brethren HS) each scored 15 and Delaney Bolles (Reeths-Puffer HS) had a double double of 13 points and 13 rebounds.
MCC finished the season with a fine 15-3 conference record and 23-5 overall.
