The Jayhawk Women’s Basketball team opened the season at home with a loss to #8 ranked Lake Land College, 68-53.

It was a rough start for MCC as they fell behind early and trailed at the half by 17. The Jayhawks 3rd quarter and knocked down a couple quick buckets to get within 10, then outscored Lake Land in the 4th, but it wasn’t enough to overcome their slow start. Coach Cooper said “it was a tough game tonight against a very good team. We came out slow and nervous in the first half and never fully recovered. The second half was better, but you can’t come out the way we did against a top ten team in the country.” Ty’veonna Davis (Muskegon) led the Jayhawks in her first collegiate game with 25 points, 10 boards, 3 steals and 3 assists.

MCC starts the season 0-1. They travel to take on Madonna University JV on Monday, 11/6 with a 6:00 pm tip off.
