The Jayhawk Women’s Basketball team beat the visiting team from Lake Michigan College, 66-42. With the win MCC wrapped up the top seed in the Western Conference and they earned the right to play Schoolcraft College at home for the MCCAA Championship.
The first quarter was close with MCC taking a 18-17 lead, and the second quarter stayed close with the Jayhawks taking a 36-32 half time lead. MCC played a great third quarter, scoring 22 while holding LMC to 8 and they cruised to the victory from there.
“We had a great win tonight; the first half was a defensive battle but we were able to put together a few runs in the second half to pull away,” said Coach Cooper after the game.
The top scorer for the Jayhawks was Suzan Sisman (Marselisborg, Denmark) with 19 points. Mariah Pringle (Brethren) scored 10, grabbed 16 rebounds and added 3 blocks. Trina Lewis (Reeths-Puffer) was also in double digit scoring with 10 points, 8 rebounds and 2 steals.
MCC finishes the regular season with a 15-3 conference record, 21-4 overall. They will host Schoolcraft College on Monday, 2/28 at 7:00 pm for the MCCAA Conference Championship.
