The Jayhawk Women’s Basketball Team beat Lansing Community College at home, 86-49.
MCC used balance scoring (19 points in the first and second quarters) and lock down defense, only allowing 2 points in the first quarter and 4 points in the second quarter to take a dominating 38-6 half time lead. LCC battled back with 24 points in the third quarter, but it was too little, too late and the Jayhawks cruised to the easy win.
“We played great team defense in the first half, which was the difference of the game,” said Coach Cooper after the game.
The Jayhawks had 6 different players in double figures; Julia Tierman (Mona Shores), Mariah Pringle (Brethren) and Karleigh Jeffries (Whitehall) all finished with 13 points. Tierman added 5 assists, Pringle had 5 rebounds and 3 assists and Jeffries finished with 4 rebounds. Calla Miller (Fremont) finished with 12 points and 6 boards, Suzan Sisman (Marselisborg, Denmark) added 11 points and Trina Lewis (Reeths-Puffer) finished with 10 points and a game high 10 rebounds.
MCC is now 13-3 in the conference and 19-4 overall. They travel to Kalamazoo Valley Community College for a 5:30 game on Monday, 2/21.
