The Muskegon Community College Women’s Basketball team beat Southwestern Michigan College 64-59 in Bartels-Rode Gymnasium.
The Jayhawks used momentum from Wednesday night’s game to jump out to 24-21 lead after the 1st quarter. The teams were evenly matched with both teams scoring 10 points in the 2nd quarter and 15 points in the 3rd quarter. MCC outscored the Roadrunners 15-13 in the 4th quarter as they held on for the victory and handed Southwestern their first loss of the season. “What a win for us today,” said Coach Jason Cooper. “The effort we displayed against a very good team this afternoon was amazing; I’m very proud of our team and program today.” Ty’veonna Davis (Muskegon) continues to lead the Jayhawks, putting up 27 points, grabbing 15 boards, handing out 4 assists with 2 steals. Arrionna Williams (Reeths-Puffer) finished with 14 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals and McKena Wilson (Calvary Christian) ended with 13 points.
MCC is now 5-2 on the season. They travel to Calvin College on Tuesday, 12/5 for a 6:00 pm matchup with the JV team.
