Muskegon Community College dropped the opening game of the NJCAA Div II tournament, 58-37 to Parkland College.
In the first quarter Parkland led 15-11. MCC’s women fought back in the second quarter to take a one point lead into the locker room at the half, 25-24. In the third quarter the Cobras came out strong, scoring 15 while limiting the Jayhawks to only 8 points for a 39-33 lead. The Jayhawks struggled to score in the fourth quarter and the Cobras capitalized on their opportunities. In the fourth the Jayhawks scored only 4 points, the Cobras adding 19 to their total. Tanae Hamer (Hudsonville HS) led the Jayhawks with 16 points. Nia Miskel (Muskegon HS) had 6 points and 11 rebounds.
The Jayhawks will now play in the consolation bracket on Wednesday, 4/21 against Kansas City Kansas Community College at 4:00 pm.
