The Jayhawk women’s soccer team got back in the win column with a 5-2 win over host Lakeland Community College.
MCC trailed early in the match but recovered well, scoring 3 goals in a 6 minute span and taking a 3-1 lead into half time. Isa Marquez (Fennville HS) got the Jayhawks on the board first after picking up a rebound and hitting a perfect shot to the side netting. Haley Ruiter (Reeths-Puffer HS) scored the next two goals. The Jayhawks dominated play in the 2nd half, getting goals from Nora Brown (Mona Shores HS) and Haley Ruiter for her hat trick. Rachel Wienclaw (Mesick HS) and Savana Driesenga (Zeeland East HS) each played a half in net for the Jayhawks giving up a goal each. Ellie Adams (Thornapple Kellogg HS), Josie Bos (Zeeland West HS) Haley Ruiter, Rylie Camp (Coopersville HS) and Nora Jones all had assists on the day.
The team improves to 8-1 in the region and 11-4 overall. They play their final game of the regular season on Friday, 10/25 at home against Ancilla College at 4:00 pm.
