The Jayhawk women’s soccer team got back in the win column this afternoon with a 6-1 win over Waubonsee Community College.
MCC scored first 13 minutes into the first half but the home team Chiefs answered 20 seconds later. Ellie Adams (Thornapple Kellogg HS) scored her first of 2 goals to put the Jayhawks up 2-1 at the half. The team settled in over the final 45 minutes and put the game away with 4 second half goals. Haley Ruiter (Reeths-Puffer HS) also scored twice for the Jayhawks while Isa Marquez (Fennville HS) and Nora Brown (Mona Shores HS) each had a goal. Rachel Wienclaw (Mesick HS) and Savana Driesenga (Zeeland East HS) shared keeper duties and Kendal Hoppa (North Muskegon HS) had a strong performance on the back line, even getting involved in the attack with 2 assists on the day.
The Jayhawks are now 7-2 in conference play and 9-3 overall. They play their final home game of the season on Saturday, 10/12 when they host Schoolcraft College for the Sophomore game at 3:00 pm.
