Muskegon Community College grabbed a 2-0 victory from the Jackson College Jets and earned a tie at the top of the Region XII standings.
It was a physical game from the start and it was a free kick by Haley Ruiter (Reeths-Puffer HS) that got the Jayhawks on the board in the first. In the second half Emily Winicki (Fruitport HS) dribbled more than 70 yards and beat several defenders to score her 20th goal of the season. Jenna Janke (Newaygo HS) earned another shutout in front of a strong defensive effort.
MCC is now 6-1 in the region, 4-5 in the conference and 7-6 overall. They return to the pitch on Saturday, 10/20 when they host Ancilla College for Sophomore day. Game time is 1:00 pm.
