The Muskegon Community College women’s soccer team broke open a close game and earned a 6 – 0 win against visiting Lake Michigan College in front of a huge and supportive crowd.
The Jayhawks held a slim 1-0 lead at halftime on a goal by Haley Ruiter (Reeths-Puffer HS). In the second half MCC was able to find the back of the net 5 more times with another goal by Ruiter, single goals by McKenna Bruin (Wayland Union HS) and Ellie Adams (Thornapple Kellogg HS) and 2 goals by Nora Brown (Mona Shores HS). Paige Stanley (Fruitport HS), Jenna Lowry (Oakridge HS), Rylie Camp (Coopersville HS), Kendal Hoppa (North Muskegon HS) and Lexi Bolles (Reeths Puffer HS) all shared time on the defensive line to help preserve the shutout.
MCC improves their record to 4-1 on the season. They return to action on Saturday, 9/14 when they host Jackson College, always a tough opponent.
