FRESHMAN ASHTON CLARK FINALIST FOR JAYHAWKS IN FIRST COLLEGE WRESTLING TOURNAMENT Muskegon Community College – Muskegon, MI – Ben McMullen Open – November 4th, 2023
The Jayhawk Wrestling team this year are mostly freshmen, so the focus in this early season is improvement week to week. Freshman Ashton Clark (Lakewood) got out to a fast start, marching his way to the finals and finishing as the runner-up. His only loss of the day was in the finals to Orion Wilson of Grand Valley. “While we didn’t have a lot of placers, the team battled today and I’m really proud of the response from last night and I’m excited for the rest of this season.” said Coach Carpenter. “I feel like these guys are going to make tremendous strides week in and week out.” Also winning matches on the day were Joe Perez (Lakeview) at 125, Rice Robins (Holton) at 174, Hunter Leonard (Fruitport) at 174 and Matt Beck (Plainwell) at 184.
