“Engaging Others: Race, Class and Gender” Nov. 30

As part of the “And Justice For All…” series, Muskegon Community College will host “Engaging Others: Race, Class, Gender,” a free interactive workshop, on Monday, Nov. 30.

College and community members are strongly encouraged to attend this event from 6-7:30 p.m. in Stevenson Center Room 1200.

A follow-up to the series’ panel discussion “Explore Your Bias,” the workshop will be facilitated by several MCC faculty and staff members.

Short videos will be shown and attendees will engage in small group discussions centered on addressing the key social identities of race, gender, and class. Attendees will be randomly assigned to tables, where college facilitators will encourage participation and respect for all ideas and opinions.

“The goal of this is to create many small scale conversations that seek to engage people across the complicated gender, racial and class divisions within society,” said MCC Sociology Instructor Nicholas Budimir, one of the event organizers.

Participating as facilitators from MCC are: Nicholas Budimir, John Selmon, Dan Rinsema-Sybenga, Papa N’Jai, Trynette Lottie-Harps, Andy Wible, Michelle Johnson, Diane Jackson, Renica Minott and Gretchen Cline.
