‘And Justice for All’ Series Looks at Predatory Lending on Feb. 15
2/15/2018 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
FreeThe popular Muskegon Community College “And Justice for All…” series continues on Thursday, Feb. 15, with an in-depth research exposé of Muskegon area check cashing services, rent-to-own and pawn shop activities conducted by MCC students.
This seminar, which is free and open to the public, will provide attendees with the knowledge and confidence to avoid being a target. Listen and learn from MCC students uncovering predatory lending practices.
The event takes place from 6-8 p.m. in MCC’s Stevenson Center Room 1100.
Predatory lending is any lending practice that imposes unfair or abusive loan terms on a borrower. It is also any practice that convinces a borrower to accept unfair terms through deceptive, coercive, exploitative or unscrupulous actions for a loan that a borrower doesn’t need, doesn’t want or can’t afford.
Predatory targets include:
- Young consumers
- People needing immediate cash
- People living beyond their means
- People with limited education and income
