Marty McDermott Named MCCAA Athletic Director of the Year

MCC Athletic Director Marty McDermott, the president of the Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) since October, has been named the statewide organization’s Athletic Director of the Year for the 2011-12 school year.

The honor, which is selected by the 19 MCCAA athletic directors, was announced on June 6 at the their summer meeting at Shanty Creek Resort in Bellaire, MI.

McDermott took over as the MCC athletic director in October 2007. He becomes the third Jayhawk AD to be named Athletic Director of the Year.  Gene Gifford won the award in 2007 and 1996 and J. Paul King won the award in 1992.
