MCC Lecture Series Opens with ‘The Fight for Reproductive Freedom’ on Sept. 14

Muskegon, MI: The MCC Lecture Series opens the 2022-23 academic year on Wednesday, Sept. 14 with Bonsitu Kitaba, ACLU of Michigan Deputy Legal Director, discussing “The Fight for Reproductive Freedom in Michigan After the Fall of Roe.”

The presentation, which is free and open to the public, begins at 6:00 p.m at the MCC Overbrook Theater.

Kitaba’s presentation will discuss the legal landscape in Michigan since Roe v. Wade was decided by the US Supreme Court, the overturn of Roe, the abortion ban that laid dormant and could be resurrected, and the strategies that are being employed by advocates in Michigan to protect access to the full spectrum of reproductive freedoms in Michigan given these threats.

“The Dobbs decision has upended 50 years of legal precedent, and no one in Michigan is more on the legal front lines of abortion than Bonsitu Kitaba. It is an honor to have her speak at MCC,” said Dr. Andy Wible, director of the Muskegon Community College Lecture Series.
