MCC Main Campus Room Renumbering to Begin June 1

MCC Room Number

Beginning on June 1, Muskegon Community College will be changing all the room numbers on the main campus with the exception of the Health and Wellness Center and Bartels-Rode Gymnasium.

“Improving the room numbering system and establishing wayfinding consistency at all locations is one of the goals outlined in MCC’s 2017-2022 Strategic Plan,” said Dean of College Services and Athletics Marty McDermott, who chairs the MCC committee that has been working on the changes.

Every room in the main campus building, Science Center, Automotive Building, and Art and Music Building will be involved in the renumbering process.

ASI Signage Innovations of Troy, MI, the firm awarded the project, will begin installing 962 signs on the weekend of June 1-2. The work may take several weeks. Other changes taking place include updating room numbers on the MCC website, MyMCC, evacuation maps, etc.

“We are asking for the campus community’s patience in the process,” added McDermott. “I think visitors will be pleased with the transformation.”

Noticeable changes will be the prevalence of directional signs posted at every intersection on every floor. Also, no longer will there be separate wings with all even or odd numbers. The room numbers will run sequentially across the main floor of the main campus, with corresponding sequential numbers on the second and third floors. The Science Center, as well as the new Automotive Building and the new Art and Music Building will each have their own set of numbers.
