MCC Musicians, Vocalists to Share Virtual Holiday Greeting on Dec. 11

Virtual Holiday Music Greeting

While the pandemic may have cancelled Muskegon Community College’s traditional Holiday Concert this year, the virus could not keep the dedicated musicians and vocalists from virtually sharing some holiday cheer.

“MCC: Virtual Holiday Greeting” premieres on Friday, Dec. 11, at 5 p.m. on MCC Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn social media platforms, as well as on the MCC website at www.muskegoncc.edu/holiday.

The short video features the musical contributions of nearly 70 MCC students, faculty, staff and alumni – along with a handful of community members from across three counties – who responded to an October request by MCC faculty members Daniel M. Meyers and Nicholas Palmer.

Working with Meyers, MCC student Quentin DuPont, a music major and saxophonist, devoted more than 100 hours to compile and transform the audio/video submissions into the final product.

Meyers said this first-ever online musical venture at MCC has been rewarding.

“Just the fact we took 60-plus people all over the place and who have never been together as a group in person – some who have never met one another – and we created this wondaful musical experience, not only for the participants but for the viewers.”
