Mona Shores Junior Wins Two-Year MCC Scholarship

Alex Aamodt, a junior at Mona Shores High School, won a two-year scholarship to attend MCC as the grand prize recipient at Saturday’s Taste of Tomorrow in Bartels-Rode Gymnasium.

MCC Vice President of Student Services John Selmon drew Aamodt’s name from the hundreds who registered at the 11th annual event. MCC Vice President for Academic Affairs Teresa Sturrus read the name of the winner, who had to be present to claim the prize.

Taste of Tomorrow offered prospective MCC students the opportunity to speak to faculty, experience some of the academic, cultural and extracurricular offerings at the college, and to tour the campus.

Aamodt, the son of Kevin and Laura Aamodt, was the boys’ soccer manager for the Mona Shores.

“I can’t stop smiling,” said Laura Aamodt, who already has two children in college: Erik, an MCC grad now at Grand Valley State University, and Andy, who attends Calvin College. “This is awesome.”
