Muskegon Community College “Grateful” to have Future 15 Leader on Staff

Tuesday, July 26, 2022, Muskegon Community College’s Director of Admissions, Stephanie Briggs was named one of the Muskegon Lakeshore Chamber of Commerce’s “Future 15” recipients. The Future 15 Awards are given to 15 young people in Muskegon County who have displayed exceptional work both in their careers and in their community.

“MCC is grateful to have Stephanie as a leader and role model for our community,” Muskegon Community College (MCC) President John Selmon said. Briggs has led MCC’s admissions team for the past six years and has helped thousands of students choose a higher education pathway. Noted in her nomination, Briggs pivoted with new enrollment strategies during the pandemic and is a driving force behind steady enrollment gains. Among MCC staff, she is known for her dependability, willingness to take on projects, and the quality of her work.

Regularly volunteering in the community, Briggs’ positive impact is not limited to MCC. Most recently, she has participated in local events such as the Muskegon Heights Juneteenth Celebration, the Muskegon Heights parade, and led mental health awareness activities during Mental Health Awareness Month. Briggs received her EdD in Community College Leadership and will defend her dissertation this fall. She is an active member of her sorority, Sigma Gamma Rho and is a part of the inaugural cohort of the Inclusive Leadership Academy – Executive.

The Muskegon Lakeshore Chamber of Commerce is hosting a celebration for all Future 15 recipients and its members on Thursday, August 11 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Deck located on Beach Street in Muskegon. Reservations are required.
