Nine individuals were honored with Love in Action Awards during the 24th banquet and ceremony held Feb. 27 in Muskegon Community College’s Blue and Gold Room.

The awards, which are presented by the MCC Office of Community Outreach, honor unsung heroes who selflessly work as individuals, businesses or organizations to help others. Honorees are nominated by the public.

This year’s awardees were: Joseph Warren, Jr., B. C. Thompson, Brian Wheeler, Robert Moore, Mary Jane Townsel-Munday, Jessica Mathews, Rev. Ray Sain, Cherrilynn Bell and Mary Miller.

“Acknowledging the honorees and showing appreciation for the work they have done makes the award dinner an invaluable occasion for MCC and the community,” said Trynette Lottie-Harp, dean of community outreach at MCC.

The keynote speaker was Damon Knox, Jr. who spoke about the importance of Love In Action in his life.

MCC Continuing Education Coordinator Sche Cornelius, who organizes the event, is already making plans for the milestone 25th Love in Action Awards ceremony in 2021.
