Welsh’s talk, which is free and open to the public, is the second in the 2021-22 Muskegon Community College President’s Speakers Series: Lessons in Leadership featuring individuals selected by MCC President Dale K. Nesbary for their impact on the growth of his professional career. Nesbary is retiring next summer after 44 years in higher education, research, and public policy work, including 13 years as the college president.

“People have an overwhelming supply of information,” explained Welsh. “Sometimes accurate, most not. It pushes people to tactics, prior to them agreeing on goals.  This makes for very tough situations and then the discussion starts with disagreement.”

Welsh oversees PNC’s business strategy and community investments within the Western Michigan market, including teams specializing in Wealth Management, Retail, Corporate and Institutional Banking.

He has more than 30 years of experience leading Commercial Real Estate, Corporate Finance and Commercial Banking teams. He mirrors PNC’s commitment to the Western Michigan Community with his service on several boards, including the Spectrum Health Systems Board, Southwest Michigan First, YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids, The Economic Club of Grand Rapids, The Right Place and Talent 2025.

Welsh earned a Bachelor of Arts from Michigan State University and was awarded an honorary Doctor of Public Service from Grand Valley State University.
