Muskegon Community College Overbrook Theater Presents “Alice by Heart”

Muskegon Community College’s Overbrook Theater is proud to present the musical “Alice by Heart” Thursday to Saturday, February 22 to 24, at 7:30 PM, with a matinee performance on Sunday, February 25, at 3:00 PM.

Set against the backdrop of World War II, the musical unfolds as a young girl seeks refuge in a London Tube station, facing the challenges of grief, loss, and love. Guided by her favorite book, “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland,” the story takes the audience on a poignant journey.

Written by the Tony® and Grammy® award-winning creators of Spring Awakening, Steven Sater and Duncan Sheik, and co-written by Jessie Nelson (Waitress), “Alice by Heart” explores the transformative power of imagination. The musical follows Alice Spencer and her friend Alfred as they navigate the London Blitz, finding solace in the underground subway. When Alfred falls ill, Alice encourages him to escape into the enchanting world of Wonderland through their cherished book.

As they traverse the whimsical tale, “Alice by Heart” delves into the complexities of first love, coping with loss, and summoning the courage to move forward.

The Center for Theater at Muskegon Community College within the Arts and Humanities Department provides theater classes for MCC students as well as a diversified schedule of performances. These include a season of plays produced by the College, an annual concert by the Overbrook Dance Theater, and touring productions of various kinds.
