Surgical Technology (AAS) – Course Details

WHY surgical technology?

Surgical Technology is an U.S. Department of Labor registered apprenticeship program for current employees of participating healthcare agencies. Students from community colleges participating in the Education Partners in Collaboration (EPIC) program are eligible for entry. At this time, the program is only open to apprenticeship students. West Shore Community College* (WSCC) hosts the Surgical Technology program in collaboration with participating colleges in the EPIC Consortium.

In order to enroll in the program, an individual must be employed and selected by a participating healthcare agencies. Qualifying students must submit an application to Michigan Colleges Online, which will forward the names and contact information to WSCC. Prospective students must have a FAFSA on file at their home colleges.

All classes are held online through Michigan Colleges Online. Labs and clinical coursework will be held at participating local healthcare agencies. The five-semester, 60-credit hour program leads to an Associate of Applied Science in Surgical Technology.
