College Student Art Exhibition returns for 60th year

Tuesday, May 14, 2024

Muskegon Community College (MCC) is pleased to announce the return of the 60th Annual Student Art Exhibition at the Overbrook Gallery, running from May 13 to September 4.

The exhibition showcases outstanding student artwork created during the previous academic year across all art courses offered at the college.

Each year, an external art professional is hired to adjudicate the entries, awarding placements and honorable mentions. Furthermore, one exceptional piece will be designated as the President’s Purchase Award, thereby becoming a part of the college’s permanent collection.

“We are consistently inspired by the exceptional talent displayed by our student artists, and this year is no exception,” said Muskegon Community College Overbrook Gallery Curator and Instructor Erin Hoffman. “At MCC, we firmly believe in the intrinsic value of visual arts as an integral component of a comprehensive education, and attendees are in for a remarkable experience.”

In conjunction with this event, MCC is privileged to welcome Nick Antonakis, Department Head of Art at Grand Rapids Community College, as the guest juror for this year’s exhibition.

The awards ceremony and a complimentary public reception are scheduled for May 31st from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM, with the presentation of awards at 5:30 PM.

Following the competition, a comprehensive list of award recipients will be published on MCC’s official website at www.Muskegoncc.edu.
