Muskegon Community College has announced the first-time pass rates for its 2023 Nursing graduates on the National Council Licensing Examination for Registered Nurses & Licensed Practical Nurses (NCLEX-RN & NCLEX-PN) surpassed both state and national averages.

“The MCC Nursing Department’s faculty is very proud of the 2023 graduates and their success on the NCLEX-RN and NCLEX-PN exams. Our students’ pass rate percentages reflect first-time test takers on the licensing exams and are again well above the state and national average pass rate percentages,” said Muskegon Community College Director of Nursing and Health Programs Chris Patterson.

According to the annual NCLEX pass rate data from January 1, 2023, through December 31, 2023, Muskegon Community College achieved a first-time pass rate of nearly 97 percent on the NCLEX-RN exam, surpassing both state and national averages of 88 percent each. Similarly, the NCLEX-PN first-time pass rate at MCC stood at an exceptional 100 percent, outperforming the state and national averages of 86 percent each.

“This is even more remarkable because we have a non-competitive enrollment, unlike many schools in Michigan and the U.S., said Patterson. “Congratulations to these graduates and best wishes as they begin their nursing careers! Well done!”

Amidst the pandemic-induced decline in nursing and healthcare professionals across West Michigan, MCC is actively replenishing the talent pool through its nursing program, acknowledged nationally for its excellence.

According to the department, Muskegon Community College’s Nursing Program awarded 62 associate degrees in nursing and 62 Practical Nurse Diplomas in 2023.
