High School Senior Application Countdown

Welcome high school seniors! The following steps will help prepare you for entering Muskegon Community College next fall.
So, you have finally reached your senior year of high school!   The next six months will go fast, you will be confronting many new situations and will need to make some key decisions regarding your college plans.  Enrollment Services has compiled a handy checklist with some key dates and activities which you will need to be aware of before attending Muskegon Community College.

We urge you to look at the list below and start taking positive steps to make sure that your transition from high school to MCC is a smooth and hassle-free experience.  The Enrollment Services Office looks forward to helping you with the enrollment process.. August Visit Muskegon Community College!  You can take a tour of the campus, complete your application for admission, sign up for New Student Orientation.
September Check your high school guidance office for the days and times when MCC will be visiting your high school. Additionally, there are numerous college nights which are being held in our community. Check the time and location for these events.
October Early FAFSA!  Starting October 1, 2016, rather than waiting until January 1, 2017.  The earlier submission date will be a permanent change, enabling you to complete and submit your FAFSA as early as October 1 each year.  Please visit the Financial Aid page for more information.
November Complete your application and submit it prior to Thanksgiving. It’s free!
December Check out scholarship opportunities at the MCC scholarship page.
January Ensure that your financial aid and admissions files are complete! Review your Student Aid Report (SAR) to make sure the data is correct.  If you haven’t done so already, don’t forget…New Student Orientation.  It’s a big event and mandatory for new students. This is one of the most important things you will attend next to your high school graduation.
February FAFSA seem complicated? Then join us for “FAFSA College Goal Sunday” Stay tuned for location!
If you haven’t already, don’t forget to submit your official ACT/SAT/MME  scores to the Testing Center.  You can check your scores here for placement guidelines.  To schedule a placement test Call (231) 777-0394 or email testingcenter@muskegoncc.edu.
March Attend the “Taste of Tomorrow” event at MCC to get a first hand view of the college. A full tuition scholarship will be given away. For complete details call (231) 777-0298.
April Check to see when Fall registration begins!  Stay focused- This is no time for “Senioritis” to set in. You should now be registering for your fall courses at MCC.  Don’t wait to register or you may not get the courses you want!  The counseling department will help you determine your academic plan if needed
May If you haven’t already registered for Fall classes, Don’t wait…classes will be filling fast.
June Again, remember you should attend New Student Orientation. This is one of the most important things you will attend next to your high school graduation.  This program is ongoing, just call (231) 777-0454 for details or schedule an appointment at www.muskegoncc.edu/orientation.
