Returning Students
We are excited you want to return to MCC! If you have not taken classes at Muskegon Community College within the last three years, please reapply for admissions (reapply here). If you are unsure when you last attended, please reach out to the Admissions Office at 231-777-0366 or admissions@muskegoncc.edu.
If you have taken classes in the past 3 years your MCC student account is still open and you do not need to reapply.
MCC Returning Student Checklist
Haven’t taken classes in 3+ years? Reapply as a returning student.
- Submit your FAFSA at www.fafsa.gov. MCC School Code: 002297.
- If you attended another institution and plan to transfer credits to MCC, please complete the online application as a transfer student and have all official transcripts sent directly to MCC for evaluation.
- MCC does not accept hand-delivered transcripts.
- Transfer students must complete at least 30 credit hours total or the last 15 credit hours at MCC and maintain a 2.0 or higher GPA to earn an MCC degree.

STEP 1: Complete Mandatory Orientation
- All returning students must complete the online orientation https://www.muskegoncc.edu/admissions/orientation/.
STEP 2: Complete Course Placement (if needed)
- Required for Nursing and Respiratory Therapy programs. Call Testing Center: 231-777-0394.
- MATH Placement: MCC determines math course placement based on one of the following:
- High school GPA (last 3+ years). Send high school transcripts (see official transcripts rule above).
- ACT math score. Send scores report (see official transcripts rule above).
- SAT math sub-score. Send scores report (see official transcripts rule above).
- ALEKS PPL score. Contact Academic Support to sign up for ALEKS PPL at cscenter@muskegoncc.edu or AcademicSupport@muskegoncc.edu or (231) 777-0392.
- Note: Visit the Course Placement page to see if you qualify for direct placement into a 100-level math course https://www.muskegoncc.edu/course-placement/. No placement test needed for BUS 126 or TMAT math classes.
STEP 3: Meet with a Counselor & Register for Classes
- Get help choosing courses for your degree or certificate.
- View registration dates on MCC’s website https://www.muskegoncc.edu/student-resources/registration/.
STEP 4: Get Your Student ID (ID123 App)
- After registering, watch for an email from ID123.
- Download the app and activate your Digital Student ID.
