CAMP AIMS TO LAUNCH NEXT GENERATION OF SCIENTISTS, ENGINEERS

Friday, May 16, 2025
As the academic school year winds down, Muskegon Community College is inviting first through eighth grade students to beat the mid-summer heat with STEM camp, MCC’s hands-on learning and discovery workshop at the Sturrus Technology Center. A two-weeks long youth retreat, MCC’s STEM Camp offers an engaging opportunity for kids to dive into science, technology, engineering, and math through interactive, age-appropriate activities that are both educational and fun.
Sessions will run over two weeks: July 7–10 for Week 1 and July 14–17 for Week 2. Each day offers an AM session from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and a PM session from 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM.
Registration runs through Sunday, June 22, 2025.
This year, MCC is proud to partner with Girls on the Run West Michigan, a community-based organization that empowers youth through physical activity and an evidence-based curriculum.
“STEM Camp is such a fun, educational, and rewarding experience for kids,” said MCC’s Associate Dean of Workforce and Talent Development, Dr. Stephanie Briggs. “We’re especially thankful to have Girls on the Run partner alongside us this year. Together, we’re creating an environment that supports both intellectual and emotional growth in children.”
Briggs says that with support from the Howmet Aerospace Foundation, this year MCC is able to offer financial assistance to families to help cover part of the cost of camp.
“We are incredibly appreciative of Howmet’s continued support,” said Dr. Briggs. “Their investment in our community allows more students to explore STEM fields and reduces financial barriers for families who want to give their children this opportunity.”
