Friday, October 10, 2025

Muskegon Community College (MCC) will welcome thousands of athletes, families, and fans to its campus this Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the Muskegon Community Golf Course, located at 2100 Marquette Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442 for a state-wide high school and college cross-country event.

This year’s meet will feature 14 high school teams with more than 340 student athletes and 22 collegiate teams bringing over 400 competitors to the starting line. Between athletes, spectators, and coaches, more than 3,000 people are expected to attend—making this one of the largest collegiate cross country meets in Michigan.

The event will open with the National Anthem at 8:45 a.m., followed by the first high school race at 9:00 a.m. The competition will begin at 12:30 p.m., with live music adding to the day’s festive atmosphere.

“With 20 athletic programs on offer here at MCC—more than any other community college in the state of Michigan—we’re excited to support and showcase athletic talent at every level this Saturday,” said Muskegon Community College Athletic Director Jason Cooper. “I’m also incredibly proud to announce that MCC’s Cross Country teams have once again qualified for nationals, an outstanding achievement that reflects the hard work, dedication, and excellence of our student-athletes and coaching staff.”

In the summer of 2025, MCC had nine athletic teams named Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) Academic Teams for the 2024-25 academic year. Each team earned a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, ranking MCC second among 24 community college athletic departments in the state of Michigan.
