Wednesday, November 5, 2025

With the growing number of people taking an interest in sports, Muskegon Community College is inviting the public to its latest MCC on Tap lecture series, “Lions, and Turkeys, and Bears, Oh My!: Sports as a Window to Culture” on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at 6:00 PM (doors open at 5:30 PM) in The Brewer’s Lounge at Pigeon Hill Brewing Company, 895 4th Street in downtown Muskegon.

As part of MCC’s year-long Centennial Celebration, the event is free and open to the public (libations not included). Dr. Tucker Brown, MCC Provost and Chief Student Services Officer will take a deep dive into the world of competitive sports and the role they play in our society.

“Do sports merely reflect the culture in which they occur, or are they events where culture is shaped, produced, and challenged?” said Brown. “That is what we aim to unpack.”
