Lumberjacks to host Blue & Gold Night for Muskegon Community College
Friday, March 6, 2026
Muskegon Community College (MCC) will bring its centennial celebration to the hockey rink this month as the Muskegon Lumberjacks host a special MCC Centennial Blue and Gold Night on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Trinity Health Arena.
The event is part of MCC’s year-long 100th anniversary celebration, marking a century of service, education, and impact across the Muskegon Lakeshore. Over the past year, the college has hosted a variety of events recognizing its history and the generations of students, faculty, staff, and community partners who have helped shape the institution since its foundation in 1926.
The Lumberjacks—fresh off their championship season—will wear exclusive, one-of-a-kind co-branded jerseys featuring both the MCC Jayhawks and Lumberjacks logos. The specially designed uniforms will honor the shared legacy of the two institutions that have long been central to the identity and cultural fabric of Muskegon County.
“When a community comes together to celebrate its roots, celebrations, milestones, and future, every moment is filled with pride and possibility,” said MCC Director of Development Richard Vanderputte-McPhersen. “The MCC Centennial Blue and Gold Night with the Lumberjacks is more than an event—it’s a testament to the enduring spirit of the Muskegon Lakeshore, our legacies, and the future for our incredible community built together.”
Dr. John Selmon, president of Muskegon Community College, will drop the ceremonial first puck to start the game. MCC will also be giving prizes and gifts to fans in the arena as part of the celebration.
Following the match, several commemorative jerseys worn during the matchup will be auctioned off, giving fans the chance to own a piece of this historic night celebrating MCC’s 100th anniversary.
Blue and Gold Night is one of the final major events in MCC’s centennial celebration, which will conclude in June with An Evening with MCC, a special gathering honoring the college’s past, present, and future while celebrating the many people and partnerships that have helped MCC thrive for a century.\
