MCC Opens Doors to Manufacturing for Middle Schoolers
Monday, April 20, 2026
Muskegon Community College (MCC) will welcome middle school students from across the region for its Middle School Manufacturing event, a hands-on, two-day experience designed to introduce young learners to careers in manufacturing, skilled trades, and advanced technology.
The event will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on April 26 and May 1, 2026, at MCC’s Sturrus Technology Center (STC) in downtown Muskegon. Students will have the opportunity to meet with local industry partners, engage directly with MCC faculty, and participate in guided tours of the state-of-the-art facility.
Throughout the experience, attendees will explore real-world applications of manufacturing and skilled trades, gaining early exposure to career pathways that are critical to the region’s economy. Local companies will showcase their work and connect with students, helping them better understand the skills and opportunities available in today’s workforce.
“This kind of early exposure is incredibly important,” said Dr. Stephanie Briggs. “When middle school students can see, touch, and experience manufacturing firsthand, it opens their eyes to possibilities of rewarding careers down the road.”
MCC continues to strengthen partnerships with local industry to build a strong talent pipeline while inspiring the next generation of workers and innovators.
