Muskegon Community College acknowledged the results of the Tuesday, August 4, 2026, election, in which voters did not approve the College’s Operating Millage Restoration Proposal. College leadership expressed appreciation to the community for its engagement throughout the process and reaffirmed MCC’s commitment to providing affordable, high-quality education for Muskegon County.

“Thank you to the community members who took the time to vote on August 4th. “While the operating millage restoration was not approved, MCC remains deeply committed to providing safe, accessible, and high-quality learning environments for our students and will continue carefully evaluating priorities and planning for the future while keeping our community informed.”

Selmon emphasized that the outcome will not change the College’s mission.

“We respect the decision of the voters and remain steadfast in our mission to prepare students, build communities, and transform lives,” he said. “Although this outcome is not what we had hoped, our focus remains on serving students with excellence, providing opportunities, and preparing the workforce our community depends on.”
