Lecture Series: “After Gaza…and Before Gaza: How US Jews (Mis)Understand Palestine”
Join MCC for a timely and thought-provoking lecture exploring the history, perspectives and complexities surrounding Gaza and Israel.
Muskegon Community College’s Lecture Series welcomes Dr. Elliot Ratzman of the University of Michigan’s Raoul Wallenberg Institute for a discussion of “After Gaza…and Before Gaza: How US Jews (Mis)Understand Palestine.”
Dr. Ratzman, a Jewish scholar who has spoken frequently on the conflict in Gaza at colleges and universities, will explore how U.S. Jews understand Palestine and Israel, the history and context surrounding the conflict, and the role of U.S. government support.
The Raul Wallenberg Institute focuses on combating religious and ethnic hatred, making this lecture an opportunity to engage with an important and complex topic through the perspective of a scholar committed to understanding issues of identity, conflict and religious and ethnic prejudice.
Attendees will have an opportunity to learn more about Gaza and Israel, better understand U.S. involvement and support, and engage in thoughtful discussion with Dr. Ratzman.
