Daniel M. Meyers Memorial Celebration
Muskegon Community College will celebrate the life and legacy of longtime Music Director Daniel M. Meyers with an evening of music, reflection and remembrance.
Muskegon Community College’s Arts & Humanities Department, in cooperation with the Foundation for Muskegon Community College, will host the Daniel M. Meyers Memorial Celebration on Thursday, Sept. 24, at 7 p.m. in the MCC Overbrook Theater.
The evening will feature musical performances by a brass ensemble, speakers reflecting on Meyers’ life and impact, and a reception with refreshments. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Daniel M. Meyers Memorial Arts & Humanities Endowment, supporting the arts and humanities at MCC in his honor.
Meyers served as MCC’s Director of Music for 15 years, leading the Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble and Jayhawk Sound Pep Band while also teaching humanities courses and contributing to numerous campus events and committees. MCC President Dr. John Selmon described Meyers as a champion for higher education, a talented musician and a gifted leader whose commitment to students touched countless lives.
The memorial celebration will provide an opportunity for family, friends, colleagues, former students and members of the community to come together to remember Meyers and celebrate the lasting influence he had on music, education and the MCC community.
