WHY DANCE?
The Muskegon Community College Dance Program offers a range of classes as physical and artistic education or for the more serious dancer.
Classes include training in techniques such as contemporary dance and ballet etc., as well as theory elements of dance history, dance anatomy, and choreographic design.
Performance Opportunities can involve MCC theater and musical theater productions, outreach performances, end of semester “studio on stage”, or an Overbrook Theater dance concert.
MEET THE INSTRUCTOR
Jovita Weibel was born and raised in Switzerland from where she holds a degree in Education. After extensive training and touring around the world, she earned a BFA in Dance from the Ohio State University and the University of Toledo and an MFA in Dance from the University of Michigan, where she also taught courses in the Dance Department. Jovita was on the Dance Faculty at the University of Toledo and Hillsdale College, and for the past 16 years she headed the Contemporary Dance Program at the Conservatoire de Fribourg in Switzerland. She is a certified Humphrey-Limón teacher and a certified Stott Pilates instructor. Jovita was a member of various Dance Companies, iE The Peter Sparling Dance Company and Ann Arbor Dance Works and has choreographed extensively in the USA and in Europe.
She is excited to being part of the MCC family and is looking forward to sharing her knowledge and her love for Dance with you.
