2010 Softball Team Inducted Into the Muskegon Area Sports Hall of Fame

The Muskegon Community College (MCC) 2010 National Championship softball team has been inducted into the Muskegon Area Sports Hall of Fame, cementing their place in local sports history. MCC Nursing Program Boasts 100% NCLEX Pass Rate

In 2025, Muskegon Community College Nursing graduates once again topped state and national averages this year, with 100 percent of MCC Nursing students passing the RN licensing exam on their first try. The NCLEX, or (National Council Licensure Examination) is a standardized exam that nurses must pass to obtain a license to practice nursing in the United States and is administered by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing. (NCSBN) In total, MCC had 38 Registered Nurse (RN) candidates, and 19 Practical Nurse candidates take the exam, with all 57 passing after one attempt. 10 MCC Sports Programs Honored for Academic Achievements

Muskegon Community College (MCC) had nine athletic teams named Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) Academic Teams for the 2024-25 academic year. Each team earned a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, ranking MCC second among 24 community college athletic departments in Michigan who were recognized as well. In total, 86 MCC student-athletes earned a GPA of 3.0 or higher during the academic year. Of those, 20 had GPAs between 3.00 and 3.19, while a remarkable 66 student-athletes earned a 3.20 or higher, qualifying them for All-MCCAA Academic honors. MCC Athletic Director wins MCCAA Coach of the year

In 2025, MCC Athletic Director and Head Women’s Basketball Coach Jason Cooper was named Coach of the Year for the Western Conference of the Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) for the 2024-2025 season. The honor follows an outstanding season by the Jayhawks, who posted a 23-6 overall record, went 15-1 at home, and finished 12-2 in conference play. In 2025, Ken James, MCC’s Chief Compliance & Title IX Officer, was honored with the 2025 Exceptional Leadership Award by the Delta Alpha Psi Zeta chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated. This prestigious award recognizes outstanding leaders who demonstrate dedication, vision, and a commitment to positive change in their communities. James, a dedicated advocate for removing barriers that prevent student success, has played an instrumental role in fostering a culture of respect and accountability at MCC. Through James’ leadership, the college has strengthened its policies and initiatives, ensuring a safer and more welcoming environment for all students and staff. MCC Wins Global Award for Innovative Student Support

Muskegon Community College (MCC) has been named winner of the 2025 Ellucian Impact Award in the “Unlocking the Power of Data” category. The award, presented at the Ellucian Live Conference on April 9 in Orlando, Florida, recognizes institutions that use data to drive innovation and improve student outcomes. As part of the recognition, MCC received a $25,000 prize to help fund supports for students including food and transportation. Muskegon Community College (MCC) outranked all other colleges in Michigan for the rate of students who received federal financial aid and then transferred to continue their education at a four-year institution. The college’s 34% transfer-out rate was the highest in Michigan, 7 percentage points above the state average, and outpaced the average transfer rate across the nation.
