Muskegon Community College (MCC) invites the community to take part in celebrating its Centennial anniversary by nominating exceptional graduates for the Distinguished Alumni and Alumni Achievement Award. Nominations are open now and will close on December 31, 2025.

This year’s awards will be presented during MCC’s 100th anniversary year—highlighting a century of educational excellence, community impact, and student success.

“Honoring our alumni during this centennial year amplifies the significance of their achievements and underscores the lasting legacy of MCC,” said Amy Swope, annual giving and donor relations manager. “These awards shine a spotlight not just on individual excellence, but on the transformative power of an education from MCC.”

Award Criteria:

Recipients of the Distinguished Alumni and Alumni Achievement Awards are selected based on the following:

• MCC College Career: Nominees must have earned an associate degree, certificate, or completed at least 50 credit         hours at MCC, showing excellence in academics and extracurricular involvement.
• Professional and Community Achievement: Nominees should have demonstrated excellence in their field through         career milestones, advanced education, or notable contributions.
• Service to the Community: A history of meaningful community engagement and service is required.
• Advocacy for Higher Education and MCC: Nominees must actively support higher education and MCC initiatives.
• Commencement Speaker: Award recipients will have the unique honor of addressing the graduating class         during MCC’s 2026 Commencement, capping off a year of centennial celebrations.

The Distinguished Alumni Award is the highest honor bestowed by the college, recognizing alumni whose professional accomplishments, leadership, and community service reflect MCC’s mission and values. The Alumni Achievement Award spotlights graduates from the past 15 years who have already made remarkable contributions in their early careers. Both awards share the same criteria and highlight how MCC continues to shape the leaders and changemakers of today and tomorrow.

Muskegon Community College will celebrate its 100th anniversary on June 20, 2026. Since its founding a century ago, MCC has been a cornerstone of the Lakeshore, shaping generations of students, strengthening the local workforce, and enriching the cultural and economic vitality of West Michigan.
