AUDITIONS: “Be More Chill” the Musical

Audition for MCC’s winter mainstage musical, Be More Chill, a high-energy, contemporary pop musical filled with humor, heart, and science-fiction twists. Auditions will be held November 10-12 from 6-9 p.m. in Overbrook Theater.

Based on the novel by Ned Vizzini, Be More Chill follows Jeremy Heere, an average high school student who struggles to fit in. When he discovers a revolutionary pill-sized supercomputer known as a SQUIP, Jeremy sees a chance to become popular, gain confidence, and win over the girl of his dreams. But as the SQUIP begins to take control of his decisions, Jeremy learns that becoming the person he thinks others want may come at the cost of being himself.

Featuring an energetic score and a story that resonates with modern audiences, Be More Chill explores themes of friendship, self-acceptance, technology, and the pressures of adolescence. While the musical addresses mature topics including depression, suicide, underage drinking, sexual situations, and drug use, its overall message is one of hope, empowerment, and embracing authenticity.

Performers of all experience levels are encouraged to audition.
