Earth Day and Earth Week at MCC
Earth Week, running April 20–24, will bring a series of campus-wide events celebrating Earth Day (April 22) and Arbor Day (April 24), highlighting sustainability, student engagement, and environmental stewardship.
The week begins Monday, April 20, with the Nature Club leading an Earth Day and Arbor Day tree-planting event on campus. Students, faculty, and staff are invited to take part in planting shifts scheduled between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., helping to expand the campus tree canopy and promote long-term environmental impact.
Throughout the week, the Hendrick Meijer Library will feature a special Earth Day display, offering educational materials and themed resources focused on environmental awareness.
Student work will also be on display at both the main entrance and Stevenson Center entrance, where Environmental Ethics students will present poster projects exploring Earth Day-related themes and issues.
On Wednesday, April 22, the Geography Club will host an Earth Day celebration from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Blue and Gold Room. The event will include food, games, and interactive educational activities. For more information, contact Eric Carbalido at eric.carbalido@muskegoncc.edu.
Earth Week concludes on April 24 with a campus beautification effort at the Sensory Herbal Garden as part of the United Way Day of Caring, inviting volunteers to help spruce up and maintain the space for future use and enjoyment.
All events are open to students and the campus community, offering multiple ways to participate in Earth Week activities and support environmental initiatives across campus.
