Muskegon Community College (MCC) will host the second-largest cross-country meet in Michigan this year Saturday, October 17, 2026, bringing approximately 14 high school teams, 30 college teams and more than 500 student-athletes to the MCC campus.

The event, expected to draw about 3,000 spectators throughout the day, will take place at the Muskegon Community College Golf Course located at 2100 Marquette Avenue. Athletes, coaches, families, and fans from across Michigan will gather for a full day of high school and collegiate competition.

For MCC, the meet also provides an opportunity to showcase its campus and athletics programs to thousands of visitors from throughout the state.

“MCC Athletics is proud to host an event of this size and caliber and to see it become an annual highlight of the cross-country season,” said Muskegon Community College Athletic Director Jason Cooper. “Bringing more than 500 student-athletes and thousands of spectators to our campus is a great way to introduce people to MCC and allow them to see our beautiful campus firsthand. We’re proud to provide a first-class venue for these athletes and to see this event reach this level.”

MCC offers 20 athletic programs, more than any other community college in Michigan. The college’s student-athletes have also demonstrated a strong academic performance across multiple teams. In the summer of 2025, nine MCC athletic teams were named Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) Academic Teams for the 2024-25 academic year. Each team earned a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, ranking MCC second among 24 community college athletic departments in Michigan.

The cross-country meet is free and open to the public.
